Which version?

Stable

This is the current development version. The 5.x Release features:
  • New features
  • Improved user interface
However, this version may not be as stable as the LTS version.
Important: Please read the Release Notes before installing.

Stable LTS

This is the "Long Term Support" (LTS) version. Although Tiki produces a new major release every six months, the 3.x Release is typically used for Enterprise deployments or other users that:
  • Do not want frequent major upgrades (for example, if your environment requires software audits)
  • Already have all the features they need in Tiki3
  • Want continued security updates

Security updates and some bug fixes will be available for Stable LTS longer than the 5.x version. See Version lifecycle for detailed information. Note that the exact dates still need to be determined.

Stable LTS is expected to have minimal changes, no regression bugs, and little or no changes to Tiki behavior. This version is intended to be combined with an LTS environment (such as Ubuntu LTS). While this may indeed happen, the goal is not for 3.x to contain fewer bugs than 5.x (for example). Instead, the goal is for users of 3.x to have access to continued security fixes for an extended period of time without requiring upgrades.

Information Important
You should not expect:
  • That 3.x LTS will be updated to work with newer PHP versions that were released after 3.x. For example, Tiki 3.x LTS may not work with PHP6.
  • That bugs fixed in newer versions will be backported to Tiki 3.x LTS.
  • That new features introduced in newer versions will be backported to Tiki 3.x LTS.
You can upgrade from Tiki 3.x to 5.x at any time. However, there is no downgrade path.

Cutting edge

You can obtain the latest, pre-release, in-development versions (including the next-generation Tiki 6) directly from the SVN repository, or by downloading pre-built tarballs (ZIP files). You can use these development versions for testing, to try out the latest Tiki features, or as a preview of what is coming in the next release.

See Get the Code for more information.

Information Important
This development branch may not be considered stable or for production use.

Upgrades

It is important to keep your Tiki up-to-date to take advantage of enhancements and fixes. Tiki will even tell you when new updates are available. With the Tiki all-in-one model, you don't have to worry about incompatible modules or add-ons.

Upgrades are easy! Here's how...
